Can I try Hugo Chat for free?
Yes. The Free plan gives you limited daily Hugo chat — no credit card. Every authenticated Free user also gets a one-time Build trial so you can experience generated pages before deciding to upgrade.
What’s the difference between Chat and Build?
Chat is conversational Hugo Q&A — quick questions, debugging, config help. It uses a fast, lightweight model and is unlimited on every paid plan. Build is generative work — producing full pages, blog posts, themes, configs, and slide decks. Build uses frontier AI models with Thinking on Pro and above, so it has its own monthly allowance separate from chat.
What happens when I hit my Build allowance?
Your Build allowance refills at the start of every billing period. If you reach it mid-period, you can top up from your billing page or upgrade to a higher plan — no need to wait for renewal. Your current usage and remaining allowance are always visible in the in-app dashboard. Hugo chat stays unlimited on paid plans regardless of your Build balance.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Subscriptions are month-to-month or annual and can be cancelled with one click from your billing page. You keep full access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
Do you offer refunds?
We don’t offer pro-rated refunds for partial periods, but we’re happy to help if something has gone wrong — email us within 14 days of a charge and we’ll review case-by-case. Cancelling stops future renewals immediately.
Can I switch between Monthly and Annual?
Yes. Switch between billing intervals from your billing page at any time. Annual saves up to 25% versus paying month-to-month — a meaningful difference if you plan to use Hugo Chat for more than a few months.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and are pro-rated. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period — your higher allowance and features stay active until then.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards via our merchant of record. VAT and applicable taxes are calculated at checkout. Apple Pay and Google Pay are supported on devices that have them configured. Invoiced billing is available on Team plans by request.
Do you offer team or enterprise plans?
Yes. The Team plan is per-seat with pooled Build allowance and admin controls — perfect for agencies, research labs, and small companies. For larger orgs needing SSO, custom contracts, data residency, or invoiced billing, get in touch and we’ll work out an Enterprise arrangement.
Are there discounts for students, educators, or non-profits?
We support the academic community — Hugo and HugoBlox are widely used by researchers and universities. Email us from a verified institutional address and we’ll arrange educator, student, and non-profit pricing.
Will my prompts be used to train AI models?
No. Your prompts and site content are never used to train any model. Enterprise plans add a signed DPA on request.
I’m a long-time subscriber. Will my price change?
No. Existing subscribers stay on their original price as long as their subscription is active — we don’t auto-bump prices on renewal. You also get any added entitlements that come with your tier (like unlimited chat) automatically.
